Biography
Joan has over two decades of experience as an early partner and key strategist in start‑up‑stage B2B platform development and go‑to‑market. She specializes in building engaging systems for communities whose value depends on active user participation.
In recent years her focus has been on creating platforms that address the unmet emotional needs of people living with serious, often long‑term conditions, including rare and chronic disease. At BOOMITY|Health, she works on a peer‑community platform that enables organizations to organize people around condition and journey stage and connect those groups with relevant content to help them navigate the complex, changing landscape of therapies and precision medicines.
To comply with the regulatory realities of pharma and healthcare, she founded And Scene, a patient experience platform for health and rare disease teams built around short, human‑authored fictional narratives that recognize overlooked emotional burdens in daily life.
Across this work, her focus is on naming and bringing to light the small, unspoken, constant burdens patients carry—grief, uncertainty, social isolation, role strain, fatigue—that are largely absent from existing patient‑facing content but are central to the real impact of disease on their lives.
