Biography
Michelle Hoffmann, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Chicago Biomedical Consortium (CBC). Supported by the Searle Funds at The Chicago Community Trust (CCT), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Walder Foundation, the CBC’s mission is to find and fund research that will most likely become commercial biomedical applications, driving Illinois’s economic development.
Since 2021, under Hoffmann’s Leadership, the CBC has reorganized to fund high-potential biopharma inventions from Illinois’s premier academic institutions, driving economic development. As part of this effort, the CBC trains Ph.D. talent in early-stage science commercialization.
Previously, Dr. Hoffmann was Senior Vice President of Deep Tech at P33, driving inclusive growth in Chicagoland’s innovation economy. She also spent 15 years in life sciences strategic advisory roles, including at Back Bay Life Science Advisors, where for nine years she led projects for global companies and venture-backed startups and supported select biotech transactions. Dr. Hoffmann earned her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology from UC Berkeley and completed a postdoc at Brandeis University
